The Lonesome Blue benefited from a workshop and staged reading as part of Theatre-in-Progress on December 15, 2004 at the Visual and Performing Arts Center in Bennington, Vermont. It was directed by Ryan C. Tittle. The Assistant Director was Penn Genthner. The cast was as follows:

Tanner Fox has left the South for the world of New England to escape the family and friends he feels like he's never known. He writes home to his brother Manelle when he finds out his brother has taken the love of his life, Marnia. The love triangle is portrayed through interweaving monologues as the characters attempt communication.
