Interior/Exterior
Composed as a "spoken-word oratorio," Wars and Rumors of Wars is a series of "arias" (monologues) and "recitatives" (vignettes) that investigate the world of a rebellious man named Kurt Stevens, who unknowingly begins an illicit affair with Renee Martinson, to the chagrin of a jealous aquaintance, Sara-Beth Talbot. Set in the inner reaches of Kurt's mind (in addition to realistic settings), he is cajoled by a dream version of himself and dispirited by his friend Randall Cullen, who is unaware of most of the inner dealings of Kurt's secret life. A powerful and searing drama with a shocking and beautiful ending.
